Dr. Vinod Scaria

Professor Damodaran M Vasudevan is an eminent Medical Biochemist and Immunologist. He is currently the Director of Research and PG programs at Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi, Kerala. He is an authority in allergy and immunology and has also worked extensively on cancer. Professor Vasudevan is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. He received the prestigious Dr. B. C. Roy Award of the Medical Council of India from the hands of the then Hon'ble President of India Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma in 1992 for excellence in the medical teaching profession. Dr Vasudevan is fondly remembered by his students, as a committed teacher, guide, and scholar in Biochemistry. The textbook of Medical Biochemistry authored by him originally in English has been translated into Spanish and Russian, and it has been a major commercial and academic success story in all three languages, selling a total of over half a million copies. The textbook is widely circulated in 23 countries of the world. Dr Vasudevan also authored textbooks for Dental students and paramedical students. He has guided more than 50 M.D., Ph.D., and MSc students for their work. He has also published more than 230 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Prof Kannan Vaidyanathan is the Professor and Head, the Department of Biochemistry, at Believers Church Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvalla, Kerala. He is an experienced Professor of Biochemistry & author with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital & healthcare industry. Strong education professional with a Postdoctoral fellowship focused on Microbiology and Cell Biology from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). He is an IFCC TF-NBS member, international medical laboratory lead assessor as per ISO 15189, and President of the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India. He has more than 75 publications 3 textbooks and 2 textbook chapters. He is co-author of the Textbook of Medical Biochemistry which sells ~25000 copies worldwide every year. Awards won by him include the APFCB (Asia Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemists) Silver Jubilee scholarship (2007) and the KP Sinha – PS Krishnan award for best original research article in the Indian Journal of Clinical Biochemistry (2011). He has also recently been awarded the “Trialect Priority Fellowship” at the prestigious Torino University, Italy.

Dr. Vinod Scaria is Senior Consultant - Genome Informatics & Computational Biology Vishwanath Cancer Care Foundation. He is a clinician turned computational biologist pioneering in Precision Medicine and Clinical Genomics in India. He is best known for sequencing the first Indian genome. He was also instrumental in the IndiGen program on Genomics for Public Health in India. He is also the co-founders of the Genomics for Understanding Rare Diseases India Alliance Network (GUaRDIAN) a large clinical network working in the area of Rare Disease Genomics in India. His research has also contributed to a number of commercially viable technologies for healthcare. This includes one of the methods for fast and accurate diagnosis and screening of mitochondrial genetic diseases. He also pioneered the use of the social web for genome annotation, through the mapping of the TB genome. Dr Scaria has also been involved in popularising personal genomics through meragenome.com and OpenPGx. He was conferred the CSIR Young Scientist Award for biological sciences for developing computational tools to analyze genomic data, by the Prime Minister of India in September 2012. He is a Kavli Frontiers of Science Fellow of the US National Academy of Sciences and an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology as well as of the Royal Society of Public Health. Dr. Vinod has over 200 research publications in international peer-reviewed journals and two books to his credit.

Dr. Amit Kunwar currently working as Associate Professor at Radiation Chemistry & Biology Section, BARC, Mumbai, India. At BARC, he has carried out excellent research work on mechanistic aspects of antioxidants, oxidative stress, radioprotection using in vitro and in vivo models, in vitro cellular uptake and imaging studies. He has more than 80 research publications in reputed international and national journals. Dr. Kunwar has presented his work in several national and international conferences and has won many awards line “Young Investigator Award” from the society of Free Radical Research, India in 2007 and “Lester Pecker Young Investigator Award” in 2010 from the Oxygen Club of California, USA and "Young Scientist Award" from Department of Atomic Energy, India in 2011. He is also serving the "Journal of Medical and Allied Sciences" as an Associate editor.

Dr. Biswanath currently working as a Associate professor at Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR), SGPGI Campus, Lucknow. He is the recipient of independent American Heart Association (AHA) postdoctoral fellowship, multiple international travel awards, best poster award at ASBMB and Junior Scientist Award in Pharmacology (during postdoctoral tenure) as well as with both prestigious Ramalingaswami (DBT) and Ramanujan (DST) Fellowship to start his independent scientific career. His areas of interest are Cancer biology, Inflammation, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular disease. His current research is focused on the molecular understanding of different G-protein regulators in cancer and cardiovascular phenotype. He has more than 90 research publications in reputed international and national journals.

Dr. Kamla Kant Shukla currently working as an Additional Professor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jodhpur. Dr. Shukla does research program is focused on genomics and proteomics approaches, especially in reproductive and cancer biology. A major area of current research is understanding the role of non-coding RNAs in the regulation of androgen receptor signaling/ubiquitin-proteasome pathways and developing biomarkers and new modalities for its treatment. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Chung Ang University, South Korea, from 2011 to 2012 and visited Canada, Japan, South Korea, and Australia for international scientific interactions and conferences. He has published more than 50 research papers in reputed journals in reproductive and cancer biology and has also written a book.

Prof. Subir Kumar Das is a highly respected professor in the field of Biochemistry, affiliated with the College of Medicine & JNM Hospital in West Bengal, India. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, he has made significant contributions to the field of biochemistry and medical education. As a professor of biochemistry, Prof. Subir Kumar Das plays a crucial role in educating and mentoring medical students. He imparts his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of healthcare professionals, equipping them with a strong foundation in biochemistry and its applications in clinical practice.Besides his academic responsibilities, Prof. Das has served as the past-president of the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India (ACBI). In this leadership role, he worked towards promoting the field of clinical biochemistry and fostering collaboration among biochemists and healthcare professionals across the country. Prof. Subir Kumar Das' contributions to the field of biochemistry extend beyond his academic and leadership roles. He actively engages in research activities, focusing on various aspects of biochemistry and its relevance to human health and disease. His research findings have been published in reputable scientific journals, further advancing the understanding of biochemistry in medical practice.
